Caridad-Dnipro opens its doors and hearts to people who were forced to leave their homes in Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh). Our project provides not only basic assistance, but also a sense of security, community, and hope for the future.
Why This Project is Needed
In the autumn of 2023, the war forced more than 100,000 people from Artsakh to leave their homes. Some families arrived in Ukraine, where a welcoming Armenian community already exists. However, newly arrived refugees face a number of serious challenges:
Ukrainian and Russian are new languages for many, making communication, finding employment, and children's education significantly more difficult.
Obtaining temporary protection, residence permits, and work permits requires knowledge of legislation, document translation, and long-term accompaniment.
The trauma of war, separation from loved ones, and uncertainty about the future cause anxiety, depression, and emotional exhaustion — especially in children.
Refugees often arrive with minimal belongings, and finding housing, food, and medical services becomes a heavy financial burden.
What the "House of Hope" Project Offers
The project is designed to provide refugees with comprehensive support and help them open a new, safe chapter in their lives. We offer:
- Humanitarian assistance — food and hygiene packages, clothing, children's supplies
- Legal support — assistance with temporary protection, residence permits, and work permits
- Psychological help — individual and group counseling, art therapy
- Integration courses — Ukrainian language classes, job-seeking skills, financial literacy
These activities will:
- Ensure that no family is left without food and hygiene essentials
- Protect refugees' rights and enable them to legally work, study, and access medical services
- Help children and adults overcome trauma and adapt to their new environment
- Promote language learning, cultural exchange, and the integration of new residents into community life
